Daikin in your home

What does Daikin air conditioning installation include?

Daikin air conditioning installation is the supply and fitting of a Daikin split system: an indoor unit on your wall, an outdoor unit outside and the pipework between them. Aircova fits Daikin wall units from £2,395 with VAT, usually in one day, and registers the manufacturer warranty for you.

Our fixed price covers the indoor unit, the outdoor unit, up to 3 metres of insulated copper pipe, the wall bracket, the electrical connection and commissioning. You also get the remote control and help connecting the unit to the Daikin Onecta app before we leave.

Every Daikin wall unit we fit is an inverter heat pump. In summer it cools and dehumidifies. In winter it runs in reverse and heats the room, taking warmth from the outside air even on cold days.

Current Daikin split units run on R32 refrigerant. R32 has a lower global warming potential than the older R410A gas, and it moves heat well, so the pipes and outdoor units stay compact.

Why people ask for Daikin by name

Daikin is one of the five brands UK installers fit most, alongside Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Toshiba and Panasonic. Buyers tend to know the name from friends, offices or hotels, and they want the same quiet, steady comfort at home.

The Daikin range is wide. It runs from compact, plain white units for a bedroom to design pieces such as the Emura and the Stylish, plus the Ururu Sarara, which also humidifies and brings in fresh air. That choice is useful, but it also makes it easy to buy more unit than a room needs.

What we add to the box

Buying the right model is half the job. The other half is the survey, the sizing, the position on the wall and a clean commissioning. A Daikin unit that is pressure tested, vacuumed and set up correctly will run quietly for many years. A rushed fit can leak or ice up, whatever the badge says.

Daikin wall-mounted ranges we install

Daikin’s UK site lists six wall-mounted ranges for homes. Figures below come from Daikin’s own product pages. Energy labels are the best rating in each range, and smaller sizes usually score highest.

Daikin Perfera

Best all rounder

The Perfera wall unit uses Flash Streamer air cleaning and a silver allergen filter. A motion sensor steers air away from people and saves energy when the room is empty. Sizes reach 7.1kW cooling and 8.2kW heating.

Daikin Stylish

Best slim design

The Stylish is only 189mm deep, so it sits close to the wall. It comes in eight finishes, from white and black to wood, fabric and leather styles. It carries the Quiet Mark and reaches 5.0kW cooling.

Daikin Emura

Best statement piece

The Emura has a curved front in silver, white or black, with Flash Streamer air cleaning. It uses the Coanda effect to spread air evenly around the room. It goes up to 5.0kW cooling, so it suits bedrooms and mid size lounges.

Comfora and Sensira for value

Comfora and Sensira are Daikin’s plainer wall units. Both reach 7.1kW cooling, so they cover big rooms as well as small ones. Comfora is compact enough to fit above a door. Sensira runs as a single split only, so it cannot join a multi-split.

Comfora
From 19dB, up to A++ for cooling and heating, works with multi-split.
Sensira
From 20dB, up to A++ cooling and A+ heating, one indoor unit per outdoor unit.

Ururu Sarara for dry air

The Ururu Sarara heats, cools, humidifies, dehumidifies and ventilates. It also brushes its own filter clean. The indoor unit is deeper than most at 372mm, and it runs as a single split.

Output
Up to 5.0kW cooling and 6.3kW heating.
Suits
Homes where winter air feels dry, or a room that needs fresh air with the windows shut.

You can check each model’s sizes and colours on the Daikin UK air-to-air heat pump range before your survey. Send us the model you like and we will price it.

Which size? A room under about 20m² that does not face south usually needs 2.5kW. Lofts, lounges and rooms with large windows usually need 3.5kW. Our BTU calculator gives a size from your measurements in about a minute.

The Stylish, Emura and Ururu Sarara cost more than the Perfera of the same size, because you pay for the design or the extra functions. We show the difference on your written quote, model by model, so you can choose with the figures in front of you.

Across the UK, fitted prices for a single Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric room unit commonly run from about £1,800 to £3,200, with London at the top end. Our air conditioning cost guide explains what moves a price, from pipe length to access at height.

Extras are priced at the survey and shown in writing: pipe runs over 3 metres, scaffolding or tower access, a consumer unit upgrade and internal wall chasing. If you want a figure now, get an instant quote online and pick the premium brand option.

Noise and running costs

How quiet and efficient are Daikin units?

Very quiet indoors. Daikin lists the Perfera, Stylish, Emura, Comfora and Ururu Sarara at sound levels down to 19dB, and the Sensira at 20dB. That is the lowest fan speed, close to a whisper, and it is why Daikin is a common choice for bedrooms.

19dBlowest indoor sound level on five Daikin wall ranges
A+++best seasonal label on Perfera, Stylish, Emura and Ururu Sarara
3 to 4kW of heat for each kW of electricity, a SCOP around 4

Outside, the condenser is louder at roughly 45 to 50dB, about the level of a quiet conversation. We place it away from bedroom windows, yours and the neighbours’, and fit anti-vibration feet on every bracket or stand.

Efficiency is where Daikin earns its premium. An A+++ seasonal label means the unit uses less electricity for the same comfort across a full year. For heating, a SCOP around 4 means one unit of electricity gives three to four units of heat.

That makes a Daikin wall unit an air-to-air heat pump as well as an air conditioner. In rooms heated by plug-in or panel heaters, it can cut the cost of keeping warm by a large margin.

If quiet sleep is your main goal, our guide to the quietest air conditioning units compares Daikin with other brands at the lowest fan speed.

More rooms, more control

Daikin multi-split and the Onecta app

A Daikin multi-split runs up to five indoor units from one outdoor unit. Perfera, Stylish, Emura and Comfora wall units can all join a multi-split, so each room can have the model that suits it.

That means a Stylish in a front lounge and a Perfera in each bedroom can share one condenser in the garden. Every indoor unit has its own remote and set temperature. Sensira and Ururu Sarara are single split only, so they need their own outdoor unit.

Our Daikin two room price starts from £4,395, against £3,995 for our standard brands. Most two to three room jobs take two to three days. Read how multi-split air conditioning works, including pipe routes and outdoor unit sizing.

What the Onecta app does

Onecta is Daikin’s app for phones and tablets. It connects to the indoor unit over your home Wi-Fi, so you can switch it on before you get home or turn it down from bed.

  • Set schedules for each room and each day
  • See how much energy each unit uses
  • Control it by voice with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant
  • Share access with family members
  • Control units in more than one home
  • Check outdoor air quality and pollen levels

Daikin notes that app functions vary by unit. We confirm which features your chosen model supports when we quote, and we connect it to your router on fitting day.

Choosing a brand

Is Daikin air conditioning right for your home?

Daikin suits people who want quiet units, strong heating and a wide choice of looks. It is not the only good brand, and it is not always the best value. This is how it compares with the two brands we fit most often beside it.

Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu at Aircova
BrandOur price tierSingle room fromStands out for
DaikinPremium£2,395Widest wall range, design models, Onecta app
Mitsubishi ElectricPremium£2,395Quiet bedroom units such as the MSZ-LN
FujitsuStandard£2,195Efficient units at a lower fitted price

Mitsubishi Electric is the closest match on price and noise, so the choice often comes down to looks and controls. See our Mitsubishi Electric installation page for its ranges. If budget matters most, our Fujitsu air conditioning page shows the same comfort from £2,195.

Light sleepers

A Perfera or Stylish on its quietest setting runs at 19dB. Placed on the wall opposite the bed with the flap set high, the air never blows across you.

Period homes and design led rooms

Victorian and Edwardian lounges with cornices and fireplaces often look wrong with a plain white box. The Stylish in a wood or fabric finish, or the curved Emura, blends in better. In conservation areas the outdoor unit position matters more, and our planning permission guide explains when consent is needed.

Rooms heated by electric heaters

Loft rooms, extensions and garden offices are often heated by panel heaters. A Daikin wall unit heats the same space for a third to a quarter of the electricity. In these rooms the unit often earns its premium through winter running costs, not summer cooling.

Daikin is less of a fit if you only need basic cooling in one spare room a few weeks a year. A standard tier unit does that job for £200 less. You can compare all single room options on our wall-mounted air conditioning page.

When you compare any Daikin installer, ask three things. Is the price fixed and does it include VAT? Will they pressure test and vacuum the system? Will they register the warranty in your name? We answer yes to all three, in writing.

Fitting day and aftercare

Daikin installation day and your warranty

Before fitting day: the survey

Most single room jobs can be priced from photos sent on WhatsApp. Send the room from the doorway, the outside wall, the route between them and your fuse board. Multi-split systems and jobs at height usually get a free home survey first.

At the survey we measure the room and check the sun it gets, then confirm the size. We look for the shortest pipe route and a safe spot for the outdoor unit. In London terraces that is often the side return or a rear wall. In flats it is usually a balcony, with the freeholder’s consent.

We also check the consumer unit has a spare way for the new circuit. If it needs an upgrade, you see that cost on the quote before you agree to anything. A careful Daikin installer should give you all of this in writing, not as a figure on the phone.

On the day

A single Daikin wall unit usually takes one working day, often 5 to 7 hours. Two engineers arrive in the morning and the system is running before they leave. This is the order we work in.

  1. Agree positions. We confirm where the indoor and outdoor units go and protect your floors.
  2. Fit the bracket. The mounting plate goes on level so the condensate drain falls correctly.
  3. Core drill. One 65mm hole, drilled with dust extraction and angled slightly down to the outside.
  4. Mount the outdoor unit. It goes on a wall bracket or ground stand with anti-vibration feet.
  5. Run the pipework. Copper pipes, cable and drain are joined and dressed in neat trunking.
  6. Test and vacuum. We pressure test with nitrogen, then pull a deep vacuum to remove moisture.
  7. Commission and connect. We release the R32, test both modes and set up the Onecta app.

Only qualified engineers may handle refrigerant. The GOV.UK F gas guidance says installers need an F gas qualification and the company needs certification. Our engineers hold both.

How the Daikin warranty works

We register the manufacturer warranty in your name once the system is commissioned. The standard cover and any extended terms are set by Daikin, not by us. Extended terms may need an accredited installer and a yearly service.

So we do not promise a set number of years on this page. We check what applies to your model and your install at the survey, and we write it on your quote. Manufacturer cover across the brands we fit runs up to 5 years, and longer on some ranges with yearly servicing.

Keep the commissioning record we leave with you. Daikin and any future engineer may ask for it. A yearly air conditioning service cleans the coil and filters, checks the drain and keeps your service history complete.

Already have an older Daikin unit? If it runs on R410A or is past its best, our air conditioning replacement service removes it, recovers the refrigerant and fits a current model.

Pressure testing and a deep vacuum on the copper pipework come before any refrigerant is released.

FAQs

Daikin air conditioning FAQs

How much does Daikin air conditioning cost to install?

A Daikin wall unit costs from £2,395 fitted at Aircova for 2.5kW, and from £2,595 for 3.5kW, with VAT. A Daikin two room multi-split starts from £4,395. Prices include up to 3 metres of pipe, the bracket, the electrical connection and commissioning. Design models such as the Stylish and Emura cost more than a Perfera of the same size.

Is Daikin a good brand for home air conditioning?

Yes, Daikin is one of the five brands UK installers fit most. Its current wall units run on R32, many reach A+++ seasonal labels, and most have quiet modes down to 19dB. The bigger factor in how well it runs is the install: correct sizing, a pressure test, a deep vacuum and careful placing of the outdoor unit.

What is the difference between Perfera, Stylish and Emura?

The Perfera is the practical choice, with air cleaning and a motion sensor, in sizes up to 7.1kW cooling. The Stylish is slimmer at 189mm deep and comes in eight finishes. The Emura is a curved design piece in silver, white or black. All three reach 19dB, and the Stylish and Emura top out at 5.0kW cooling.

Which Daikin wall unit is the quietest?

Five Daikin wall ranges share the lowest figure of 19dB: Perfera, Stylish, Emura, Comfora and Ururu Sarara. The Sensira is listed at 20dB. In a bedroom, how the unit is placed matters as much as the figure, so we keep the airflow away from the bed and put the outdoor unit away from windows.

Do I need an accredited installer for the Daikin warranty?

It depends on the cover you want. Daikin sets its own warranty terms, and extended terms may need an accredited installer and a yearly service. We register the manufacturer warranty in your name after commissioning. At the survey we check which terms apply to your model and install, and we put that in writing on your quote.

Does every Daikin unit work with the Onecta app?

All six current Daikin wall ranges list Onecta control on Daikin’s UK site. The app lets you set schedules, see energy use and use Alexa or Google Assistant. Daikin notes that functions vary by unit, so we confirm what your model supports when we quote. We connect the unit to your Wi-Fi on fitting day.

Can one Daikin outdoor unit run several rooms?

Yes, a Daikin multi-split outdoor unit can run up to five indoor units. Perfera, Stylish, Emura and Comfora wall units can share one outdoor unit, each with its own control. Sensira and Ururu Sarara work as single splits only. Our Daikin two room system starts from £4,395 fitted with VAT.

Can Daikin air conditioning heat my home in winter?

Yes, every Daikin wall unit we fit heats as well as cools. It works as an air-to-air heat pump, giving about 3 to 4 kW of heat for each kW of electricity. That makes it much cheaper to run than panel or plug-in heaters. It heats the rooms with indoor units, not radiators or hot water.

Do Daikin units need servicing every year?

A yearly service is strongly advised, and extended warranty terms may require it. The engineer cleans the indoor coil and filters, checks the condensate drain and inspects the outdoor unit. Between services, rinse the indoor filters every few weeks in summer. Keep each service record with your commissioning sheet.
