Aftercare Two kinds of cover on every install
Your Warranty and Workmanship Guarantee
Every air conditioning or air-to-air heat pump system Aircova fits in London and the South East has two kinds of cover. The manufacturer warranty covers the equipment, and our workmanship guarantee covers the installation. This page explains what each one covers and what to do if a fault appears.

Two kinds of cover
How does our warranty cover work?
Aircova installs come with two kinds of cover. The manufacturer warranty pays for faulty parts in the indoor and outdoor units, and we register it for you after commissioning. Our workmanship guarantee covers the installation work we carry out. If a fault is caused by our fitting, we come back and put it right at no cost to you.
The length of a manufacturer warranty depends on the brand and the model. Some brands offer extended terms, and these may need an accredited installer or yearly servicing. We confirm what applies to your system at the survey, before you agree to anything.
At handover we pressure test the pipework, commission the system and show you how it works. We then register the warranty with the manufacturer, so the start date matches your install day.
If you are still choosing a system, our brands we fit page compares the main makes, and the air conditioning cost guide shows what a fitted system includes.
What is covered
What a manufacturer warranty does and does not cover
Each manufacturer writes its own terms, so the document for your model always has the final say. The table shows how cover usually splits between the manufacturer, our guarantee and you.
| Problem | Usually covered by | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Faulty part, such as a fan motor or circuit board | Manufacturer warranty | Within the warranty period, under the brand’s terms |
| Leak at a pipe joint we made | Our workmanship guarantee | Terms written on your quote |
| Bracket, drain or wiring we fitted | Our workmanship guarantee | Terms written on your quote |
| Accidental damage, storms or power surges | Not usually covered | Check your home insurance |
| Faults from missed servicing or blocked filters | Not usually covered | Many brands ask for yearly servicing |
| Work by someone without F gas qualifications | Not usually covered | Can void the warranty |
Remote batteries, cleaning and normal wear are not faults. If you are unsure which row a problem fits, send us a photo and we will tell you.

Keeping it valid
How to keep your warranty valid
Most warranty claims fail on paperwork or missed maintenance, not on the fault itself. A few simple habits keep your cover in place.
- Keep your handover pack. It holds the commissioning record and the warranty registration details.
- Book a yearly service. Regular air conditioning servicing helps keep the warranty valid and the unit efficient.
- Clean the filters. Rinse them every few weeks in summer, as blocked filters strain the fan.
- Use F gas engineers only. Nobody else should open the refrigerant circuit.
That last point is a legal one. GOV.UK guidance on F gas qualifications says anyone who installs, services, leak checks or recovers refrigerant needs the right certificate.
Faults and claims
What to do if something goes wrong
Start with the simple checks, then message us. We will work out whether the problem falls under the manufacturer warranty, our guarantee or normal wear.
- Check the basics. Power, remote batteries, mode setting and filters cause many call outs.
- Note any error code. Most indoor units flash a code or show one on the display.
- Message us. WhatsApp 07403 664179 with a photo, the code and your install date.
- We diagnose it. An engineer finds the cause and explains who covers it before any work.
If the fault is not covered, our air conditioning repair service quotes the parts and labour before work starts. Any refrigerant is recovered by our F gas engineers, never vented.
A leak is never fixed with a quick top up. We find and fix the leak first, then regas the system and record the work. You can also use our contact page if you prefer email.
FAQs
Warranty questions
How long is the manufacturer warranty on my air conditioning?
It depends on the brand and the model you choose. Some manufacturers offer extended terms, which may need an accredited installer and yearly servicing. We confirm the length that applies to your system at the survey and write it on your quote, so you know before you agree.
Who registers the warranty with the manufacturer?
We do. After commissioning we register the manufacturer warranty for you, so the cover starts from your install date. Keep your handover pack safe, as it holds the commissioning record and the registration details you may need for a claim.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
Yes, it can. Yearly servicing helps keep a manufacturer warranty valid, and many brands ask for it in their terms. A service also keeps the unit running efficiently and catches small faults early. Our engineers record each service so you have proof if you ever need to claim.
What does your workmanship guarantee cover?
It covers the installation work we carry out, such as the pipe joints, brackets, condensate drain and wiring we fit. If one of these fails because of how we fitted it, we put it right free of charge. It does not cover faulty factory parts, which fall under the manufacturer warranty, or damage caused after we leave.
Is a refrigerant leak covered?
It depends on the cause. A leak from a faulty factory part usually falls under the manufacturer warranty. A leak at a joint we made falls under our workmanship guarantee. Either way, we find and fix the leak before any regas, and our F gas engineers handle the refrigerant.
