Certificates What we hold and how to check
Our Accreditations and How to Check Them
Aircova engineers in London and the South East are F gas certified, which the law requires for anyone fitting air conditioning or heat pumps. This page sets out plainly what we hold, what we do not hold yet, and how you can check any installer before you book.

Our certificates
Which certificates does Aircova hold?
Aircova holds F gas certification, the legal requirement for installing and servicing air conditioning and heat pumps. Our engineers hold F gas qualifications to handle refrigerant. We give certificate numbers on request and print them on your quote. We do not hold MCS, TrustMark or manufacturer accreditation yet.
| Scheme | Status at Aircova | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| F gas certification | Held | Installing, servicing and decommissioning systems that hold refrigerant |
| MCS certification | Not held yet | Quality mark for small renewables, needed for some grants |
| TrustMark | Not held yet | Government Endorsed Quality Scheme for home trades |
| Manufacturer accreditation | Not held yet | Brand training that can give access to extended warranty terms |
We will update this page as soon as we hold any new scheme, and add the number when we do. Until then, nothing on our site claims otherwise.
Plain English
What each scheme means for you
Installer badges can be confusing. Here is what each one tells you, and when it matters for your home.
F gas and REFCOM
F gas rules are law, not a choice. Companies that install, repair, maintain or decommission air conditioning and heat pumps must hold company certification. GOV.UK lists three approved bodies: REFCOM, F-Gas Register (Quidos) and Bureau Veritas.
Each engineer also needs a personal F gas qualification to handle R32 refrigerant, test for leaks and recover gas safely.
MCS
MCS is the UK quality mark for small renewables such as solar panels and heat pumps. MCS says air-to-air heat pumps are a new technology being added to the scheme.
It matters if you want the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which needs an MCS certified installer. Read our heat pump grant guide before you plan around it.
TrustMark
TrustMark is the Government Endorsed Quality Scheme for work in and around the home. Registered firms are vetted and agree to set standards of customer service. It is useful, but it is not a legal requirement for air conditioning.
Manufacturer accreditation
Brands such as Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric train and accredit installers. Some extended warranty terms need an accredited installer. We fit the leading brands and register the standard warranty, and we confirm what applies at the survey. Our warranty page explains the detail.

Before you book
How to check any installer
A good installer is happy to show their certificates. These checks take a few minutes and apply to us as much as anyone.
- Ask for the company F gas number. Ask which body issued it, as GOV.UK lists three approved bodies.
- Check the register. For REFCOM certificates, search the REFCOM company register. For other bodies, contact them directly.
- Ask about the engineer. The person fitting your unit should hold a personal F gas qualification card.
- Claiming a grant? Use the MCS installer search to confirm the firm is certified.
- Get it in writing. Numbers, warranty and guarantee terms belong on the quote.
On the day
What F gas work looks like at your home
Our engineers pressure test the pipework with nitrogen, pull a vacuum and then release the R32 refrigerant. At handover we commission the system, test cooling and heating and show you the controls.
When we replace an old unit, our F gas engineers recover the refrigerant and record it, so nothing is vented. The same rules apply on every service visit and every air conditioning repair.
See how this fits our wider air conditioning installation service, from wall-mounted units to air-to-air heat pumps. For a price, get an instant quote or read the air conditioning cost guide.
FAQs
Accreditation questions
Is Aircova F gas certified?
Yes. F gas certification is a legal requirement for any company that installs or services air conditioning and heat pumps, and our engineers hold F gas qualifications. We give our certificate numbers on request, and they are printed on every quote we send.
Can I see your certificate number before I book?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp or call 07403 664179 and we will send the details. The numbers also appear on your written quote, so you can check them with the issuing body before you agree to any work.
Are you MCS certified?
Not yet. MCS certification matters mainly if you want the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, which needs an MCS certified installer. If you plan to claim a grant, tell us at the start and we will be clear at the survey about what applies to you.
Are you an accredited installer for any manufacturer?
Not at present. We fit Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Toshiba and Panasonic, and we register the manufacturer warranty after commissioning. Some extended warranty terms need an accredited installer, so we confirm what applies to your model at the survey.
What is REFCOM?
REFCOM is one of three bodies approved to issue F gas company certificates. The others listed by GOV.UK are F-Gas Register (Quidos) and Bureau Veritas. REFCOM has a public register where you can look up a registered company.
